The Fourth Dot Initiative

Craftsmanship as a pathway to skill, dignity and economic independence.

Turning pause into purpose

Fourth Dot is the social-impact production and training initiative under Arat Netib. Inspired by the Amharic punctuation Arat Netib (::), which signifies completion, it supports the idea that women should have the opportunity to build on their abilities and finish what they started.

Experienced men and women artisans, welders and craftspeople are already producing work and mentoring a small number of women. Practical learning is connected to real production in leatherwork, furniture making, finishing and interior accessories.

The wider programme is being developed to support women affected by conflict, displacement and unstable living conditions in Ethiopia and neighbouring regions. Planned support includes training, market readiness and pathways to paid work. Future ambitions include broader living and housing support; these are goals for development.
